Hatto CD

Is this CD what it appears? No - it's one of over 100 fakes, concocted in what is the most amazing musical fraud ever perpetrated.

In February 2007, Pristine Audio, in conjunction with Gramophone magazine, unearthed something quite unprecedented in the world of classical music. Here we present our findings:

Pristine Audio remasters, in association with Gramophone

This index lists all of the recordings released by the National Gramophonic Society. Over the coming weeks and months we will be adding remastered issues of all of these recordings to our site for download as high-quality MP3 or full CD-quality lossless FLAC files. (Scroll down to end of page for MP3-quality audio samples.)

Discs were numbered in order of release, between 1924 and 1931. The National Gramophonic Society was founded by Compton MacKenzie (along with The Gramophone magazine) as a non-profit making subscription organisation to fund the recording of chamber music and other works ignored by the major record companies - the discs used for the vast majority of these transfers are from Gramophone's own archive. Introductory article by Gramophone's James Jolly here.
